Inquiry expenditure
The table below sets out the expenditure for the Inquiry up to and including 31 October 2011. The Inquiry was established formally on 1 August 2008 and expenditure from that date is included in the table.
Only expenditure authorised through or on behalf of the Inquiry Secretariat is included in the figures. The Inquiry is directly funding the legal costs of the detainees and their families and Mr Donald Payne, as well as its own legal team. At the present time the costs of other Core Participants in the Inquiry are being met directly by the Ministry of Defence and those costs are not shown here. The Ministry of Defence and other organisations may also have other costs which are met internally and are not included within the Inquiry’s expenditure figures.
