Submissions for the second Directions Hearing
At the first Directions Hearing the Chairman invited submissions on anonymity for witnesses. Several submissions were received which were circulated to Core Participants but were not made public as to do so would have frustrated the purpose of the applications. The Chairman has now made a ruling on anonymity, an open version of which is available on this website.
The following "open" submissions were received.
Generic legal arguments on anonymity from the Treasury Solicitor (TSol) on behalf of various military witnesses. These submissions were adopted by:
- Kingsley Napley on behalf of other military witnesses
- Lewis Cherry on behalf of Sergeant Stacey and Kingsman Fallon
- ITN Solicitors on behalf of Lance Corporal W A Crowcroft
Submissions on the legal framework from Leigh, Day & Co. on behalf of the Mousa family and detainees
Reply submissions from Leigh, Day & Co. to TSol's arguments on anonymity
Transcripts of all hearings will be available shortly afterwards on the Inquiry's transcripts page
