About the Inquiry

The Inquiry takes place at Finlaison House in the City of London. The Inquiry is chaired by the Right Honourable Sir William Gage, a retired Court of Appeal judge. He sits at the front of the hearing room. Counsel to the Inquiry are situated directly in front of him, with the legal teams representing the various core participants on either side. Witnesses give their evidence from a witness box to the left of the Chairman, next to the window and underneath the big screen in the photograph above.

Witnesses will be given plenty of warning if they are going to be called to give oral evidence. Most will do so in open court but under certain circumstances the Chairman might rule that a witness should give evidence in private or by video link from elsewhere. Every week the Inquiry will publish a list of those witnesses due to give evidence in the next fortnight.

The links above provide more information to witnesses.
